We’re all working on a million things at once.

Not just here at V13 (though that’s 100% true), but most of us. In fact, probably you reading this as well.

You’ve got loads going on, right? And the pressure to provide and progress doesn’t ever abate; if anything, you’re likely already planning the next thing that you want to improve or learn or perfect, whether to make ends meet or add colour to your life.

All these stressors. All this pressure. All those measures, meant to give us pleasure.

But it’s all a lie.

You know that there’s something amiss in the world around you. You know deep down that this whole model of renting instead of owning, drowning in the noise of platforms that own the audience and the players, letting the world get played like a board game by the unseen giants, doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Yet you keep doing it. Because what’s the alternative?

Well, for starters: you’re reading this, which means you have an interest in the subculture, in the alternative to the top-down content vomit that they call pop culture these days. Instead of being spoon fed, you’re more intrigued by bending the spoon. Hell, If you’re anything like me, you probably want to say “Forget the spoon, who’s the one holding it?”

If this rings true, I want you to know you’re not alone. I also have to sit through this Looney Tunes timeline. We also have to work through the absolutely diabolical nonsense that passes for news these days. And we want you to know we’re always working on covering everything that isn’t just the latest by one of the Big Six or Big Five or Big Three or whatever other Big Asshole that owns too goddamn much of the media.

So thank you for choosing something better. Something honest. I swear we’re always doing our best to serve not just you, but all the artists and writers and photographers and creators the world over, the ones who are out on their own and the ones who refuse to be cowed by the Big Assholes.
