I slept like shit and still tried to act like I wasn’t running on empty.

Maybe you’ve been through this: your brain is already sandpaper, and a small crisis turns enormous.

You decide you’re going to handle it yourself so your partner can sleep.

You get strict. You get sharp. You go too far.

And you feel it in your chest immediately, because you know you just made it worse.

Then later you’re making tea and offering Oreos like a peace treaty, trying to un-break what you just broke.

That’s the part no one tells you about. Repair is slow, unglamorous, and it doesn’t look like progress.

Because the truth is this: you can build a whole life out of good intentions and still hurt the people you love when you’re running on fumes.

You can be trying to do the noble thing, protect someone’s sleep, keep the wheels on, and end up becoming the very thing you were trying to keep out of the house.

**The real measure isn’t whether you break it.

It’s whether you come back and fix what you broke.**

Most of us are obsessed with prevention (I know I am, shit): the perfect plan, the easy morning, the kid who sleeps.

Life doesn’t care, babe.

Life hands you a gremlin at 2:45 a.m. and says: show me, then.

So here’s what I’m practicing right now: noticing when I’m turning into a prick, stopping, and repairing it before I make it everybody else’s problem.

The moment you feel yourself tightening up, slow down.

Don’t try to win. Don’t build a case.

Name what’s happening. Own your part. Ask what would repair this.

Choose repair.

Let's get into it.
